Rattlesnake Roll
Wizzard: "Rattlesnake Roll" (Jet)
After "Crocodile Rock", we have "Rattlesnake Roll" which (honestly) bears
a fair resemblance to the old Bill Haley doo-wop "See You Later Alligator".
Sparse production as Roy Wood does his best to emulate the raw sound of
early rock and roll from the mid-fifties. Rattling piano, horny sax, fairly
noisy back-up vocals and a fair stab at one of those Scotty Moore guitar
solos that originally inspired James Page to discover the joys of the fretboard.
With the current fad for this kind of material, Wood's Wizzard stand a
chance of having a hit.
